Class Dates:  Wednesday evenings 1/6 - 2/24 

Time :  Between 6 - 8:15 pm, tbd
(If we have enough sign ups for 2 ensembles, we'll have one session from 6 - 7, and one from 7:15 - 8:15)

Who: Adult players (18+) 2 months - 10 years experience, ALL string instruments! (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Guitar, Mandolin)

Description: Discover the joy of chamber music in your first ensemble! This class is for adult beginner and intermediate level players of string instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, also accepting guitar and mandolin! We'll play two, three, and four part harmonies inspired by classical, fiddle, folk & world music traditions. We will work on refining technique as we go along.   Students will expand their music theory knowledge by learning about different time signatures, practicing music reading, and playing pieces in different keys and the corresponding scales to go with.  Students will also gain the valuable experience of getting to both play, and listen to others at the same time - of alternating between leading and following - and of realizing new musical horizons in collaborating with others.  The class culminates in a final recital/potluck where students perform the pieces they learned together for friends, family, and fans.  

Weekly Time Commitment:

Class time plus four to five at home practice sessions of 20 - 30 minutes. Students are encouraged to form groups and rehearse together outside of class when possible!
