Cellosseum (wolverinesoft)

Cellosseum is a bullet heaven following the progress of a lone cell as she battles a variety of enemies on her quest to guide the evolutionary process of life itself. An educational case study of Chimeric's Nova Drift, Cellosseum was created by 38 people at the University of Michigan's WolverineSoft Studio, between May and August 2023.

For this game I led a 7 person audio team, did extensive sfx, and significant implementation work in Wwise.  Additionally, my story concept was chosen for the game and as such I recruited and led a 5 person narrative team who together wrote a script for the announcer and 6 cut scenes.  I organized the casting, led the voice over recording, and edited all voiceover to fit the characters, environment, and timing of the animations.

One character, the announcer, speaks every time a new enemy enters the screen during gameplay.  Because we wanted to create the feeling of a sporting event taking place in an arena, I processed the announcer's VO to sound like we're hearing his voice over poor speakers in a giant stadium.  I then took five different clips of audiences cheering which were put together by my teammate Emily Sulkey, added the occasional airhorn, and in Wwise randomized their length, pitch, and overlapping combinations in which they would play before and after the announcer speaks.  Each time a new enemy appears, the audience cheers sound unique.
